Fatal Crash at Kamikaze Curve  →
So thery’re not releasing the name of the 18-year-old who was killed yet, but they did release the name of the driver, who was injured, and I know him, I’ve taught his children, so I am really freaking out that the boy is one of my former students. They’re a Bosnian family, and I know almost all of the Bosnians in our area, so even if the boy isn’t Selim’s son,...

clothedinsky: tell me of a moment in which your life changed irrevocably? Sunday, 3 October 1999. I was studying abroad in Ireland, and my program had taken all the American students out to Inishmore (Aran Islands) for a weekend trip. I had previously been to the smallest of the islands, and hated it (for reasons I need not discuss here), but figured a free weekend trip was worth checking out...

The lunar eclipse
was awesome, in the real sense of the word. Like, breathless, jaw-dropping awesome. Totally worth waking up in the middle of the night & going out in the icy night winds.

Everybody at work is so crazy about sneakydoodles for Christmas, I feel silly, I do not know what they talking about.” I figured out pretty quickly that he meant snickerdoodles, but the truth is, like so many of his other mispronounciations, I have decided that sneakydoodles is a much...

Went home from work early today
with the flu. I shouldn’t have even gone in to work in the first place. Now I’m home, miserable, and wishing I had a job where I could just ‘phone it in’. Sigh. Teaching doesn’t work that way. Thank God for reliable substitutes.

Lonely Planet: Mini Guide to Galicia, Spain →
“Galicia’s spiritual and cultural centre is Santiago de Compostela, the medieval city that is journey’s end for walkers on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. But Galicia is more than its capital – it is a unique province with a wild coastline and emerald green interior, its own language and a distinctive culture and cuisine.” I can’t wait!

A Prayer for Perspective
azspot: A Prayer for Perspective (This prayer is attributed to Oscar Romero, archbishop of El Salvador. He was assassinated in 1980 while saying the mass in San Salvador.) It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view. The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is even beyond our vision. We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise that is...

“Rojo, verde, blanco, negro… y así hasta tres mil. Los hay terapéuticos, digestivos, diuréticos, adelgazantes, estimulantes y hasta rejuvenecedores. Incluso felinos. A pesar de sus cinco mil años de antigüedad, el té no pasa de moda. Ruta madrileña para disfrutar de las infinitas variedades de la infusión de las cinco (de la madrugada).” Add this to my must-do travel dreams!
